I was very fortunate the other day. I was in a place that I'd been using since spring to try and photograph these amazing hunters. Yesterday it paid off!
I met a fellow photographer in the morning who told me that he'd got some good shots of a kingfisher in the morning. I met him about 10:30am. Four hours later I was blessed with this site:

I still haven't gotten over the shots myself. Everytime I load them up they make me smile from deep within.

That is brilliant! I saw a kingfisher once in Scotland and it was exactly as you said - just a blue and orange flash really. I especially like the cobalt blue of image number eight. So, what's next on your list of 'must have' pictures?
ReplyDeleteThanks Derek. The kingfisher phase has only just begun. The next dream shot is to get a kingfisher leaving the water with a fish in its beak! I nearly got that yesterday - but I hadn't had enough time watching it to learn its 'way' for want of a better word.
